The Omegaverse book genre slapped me in the face when I stumbled upon author Addison Cain’s books. If you haven’t read anything from this author, I highly recommend. I’m looking forward to rereading her “Alpha’s Claim” series and reviewing it in preparation for book five’s release. Until her, I didn’t even know the “Omegaverse” was a “thing.” Since, I have really enjoyed dipping my toes into these often dark- and dirty reads. The book I want to review today was a freebie I was lucky enough to nab by Leann Ryans called Raider’s Treasure. This is book one of Ryans’s “Alpha Barbarian” series.
The story starts off strong with an omega, Lyric, as she struggles to escape a raid on her village. Terrified, Lyric falls into a freezing river trying to flee. Swept downstream with the bodies of her fellow villagers, she’s injured, and captured by the Alpha responsible for the raid.
Raider didn’t plan on taking his own omega, but when he saw Lyric, a potential omega, being carried down the river, he had to make a choice. As with all the omegaverse and shifter books I have read, one sniff was all it took to seal the main characters into their fates, but that doesn’t keep Lyric from resisting. She has other plans than falling for the Alpha who brought on the destruction of her village.
Folks, this was a quick and satisfying read. The character journey was a little short and maybe not as in-depth as I like, and the HEA was more implied than painted out for you, as I believe it ran into the next book in the series. I haven’t had time to dig into that one yet since I’ve been typing away at my own projects; but be sure, for a sweet price of $2.99 and free for KU, I’ll be picking up the next in the series. If you’re looking for something quick and a bit dirty with an alpha to love, this won’t leave you wanting.
